If you are afraid of your sewing machine, I will help you!

This 4 week course will cover the basics:

– how to thread the machine, how to fix minor issues,

– what tools and materials you will need (pins, threads, needles, chalk, rulers etc),

– how to choose the right fabric for your project and more.

Week 1

Threading the machine, basic stitches and troubleshooting.

Project – reversible coaster.

Week 2

Know your fabric – how to define the fiber, how to prepare for sewing.

Project – 3 kinds of hems.

Week 3

Pressing and cutting. Measuring.

Project – purse with a zipper.

Week 4

Working with patterns. Various stitches.

Project – sleeping mask with elastic band.

No experience necessary, suitable for ages 12+

You will need to bring your sewing machine with a manual (if possible), an extension cord (2-3 m long), and your sewing box (scissors, threads, needles, measuring tape, fabric marker, or chalk). Other tools and materials we will discuss during the first class.

FAQs

I don't have a sewing machine (or can't bring it). Can I join?

Yes, you can use the machine we have in the class, just let me know in advance.

My child is 11, but really into sewing. Can they join the class?

If you know, that they would enjoy it and have enough patience to sit through 2 hour class, yes! But make sure that they know how to hold scissors and needles without hurting themselves.

I am busy one of the Sundays. Can I join only 2 or 3 classes of 4?

Yes, you can pay per class. Make sure that the payment was done at least 5 days before the class.
