TINA SHARAPOVA

is an experienced art teacher and contemporary mixed media artist based in Moncton, New Brunswick. Born in Moscow, Russia, Tina grew up surrounded by a rich tradition of handcrafts, from embroidery to wood carving, which shaped her early artistic journey.

JOURNEY

Her formal training began at the Moscow College of Arts and Crafts, where she specialized in carpets and tapestry making. After working as a designer in a carpet company, Tina co-founded the “Donegal” studio, producing hand-made tapestries for interior design and collaborating with a renowned Irish carpet factory.

In 2006, Tina moved to China, where the vibrant culture and intricate artistry of Chinese ink painting and calligraphy deeply influenced her work. After experimenting with various forms of art, including doll-making and patchwork, she embraced felt-making, a medium that echoed her early experiences in textile design.

Tina continued her education in Canada, earning a diploma in Textile Design from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in 2018, where she expanded her practice to include weaving and pattern design. Now, as an art teacher, she is passionate about guiding students in exploring their creativity through hands-on projects and mixed media techniques, offering them the tools to express their inner worlds.

Her work today combines a love for tactile materials and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, as she continues to explore new dimensions in mixed media art.
